Ahmedabad, July 17: Heavy rains have been lashing parts of Gujarat since Monday, leading to waterlogging and flooding in several areas. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed across the state while the Indian Air Force has been put on alert. According to Skymet Weather, Rajkot received 187 mm rainfall in 21 hours since 8:30 am yesterday. Gir Somnath district was the worst affected with flooding reported in several villages.

The NDRF carried out rescue and evacuation operations at Girgodada Railway Station in Gir Somnath where several people got stuck in four bogies of a local train due to waterlogging at railway track. The NDRF also rescued those stranded in Sant Nagar in Surat.

Rescue operations and evacuation were underway at Bander Road, Valsad city and Kashmir Nagar as heavy rains raised the water level of a tributary of the Auranga River, leading to waterlogging.
