Gurugram: Husband Takes Wife to Girlfriend’s House, Shoots Her Dead, Flees to Nepal
A man and his alleged girlfriend have been arrested in connection with the murder of his newly married wife in Haryana's Gurugram, police said on Sunday. The accused, identified as Ankit and Rajni Devi, were arrested after they returned to India from Nepal, where they had allegedly fled following the crime.

According to police, the victim, 22-year-old Madhu, had married Ankit, a resident of Manesar, on February 19. On May 22, her mother filed a missing person complaint, alleging that Madhu had disappeared a day earlier and expressing suspicion over the involvement of Ankit and his family.
Woman Found Dead With Bullet Injuries
During the investigation, police recovered Madhu's body from a rented room in Manesar. She had sustained bullet injuries. Police later identified the missing woman as 38-year-old Rajni Devi, a resident of Aurangabad village in Jhajjar district, who worked at a beauty parlour near Ankit's tobacco shop in Manesar.
Police Allege Murder Was Planned
According to police, Ankit and Rajni were in a relationship. Investigators alleged that on May 21, Ankit took Madhu to Rajni's rented room as part of a pre-planned conspiracy and shot her dead. Delhi: Husband Snooped for Affair, Strangled 18-Year-Old Wife; Arrested.
"Investigation revealed that on May 21, Ankit allegedly took his wife to Rajni's rented room as part of a pre-planned conspiracy, where he shot her dead. It was further revealed that the firearm used in the murder had been procured by Ankit from Uttar Pradesh about two months before the incident," a police officer told PTI.
Arrest After Return From Nepal
Police said the accused fled to Haridwar after the murder before escaping to Nepal. They returned to India on June 30 and were arrested.
"After committing the crime, Ankit and Rajni fled to Haridwar and later escaped to Nepal. They returned to India on June 30 and were arrested," the officer said.
The accused were produced before a court, which remanded them to five days of police custody for further interrogation and recovery of evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
