A 21-year-old volleyball player from Rajasthan died in Faridabad after allegedly being kidnapped and assaulted by the relatives of a minor girl with whom he was reportedly in a relationship, police said. The victim’s family has claimed that he was tied up for three days, denied food, and repeatedly beaten before being abandoned in an injured condition, as reported by TOI.
The deceased, identified as Monu, was a resident of Saidpur village in Rajasthan’s Bhiwadi area and had reportedly won several state-level volleyball medals. He died during treatment at a hospital on Friday after being admitted with serious injuries earlier this week. Family Alleges Kidnapping and Torture
According to relatives, Monu had been in contact with a minor girl from the Tigaon area of Faridabad. The two reportedly knew each other through the girl’s maternal relatives in Saidpur village.
Monu’s uncle alleged that the young man left home on May 17 after telling family members he was going to the Tigaon police station for questioning related to an earlier case. The family claims he was then abducted by the girl’s relatives and kept confined inside a house for several days. Relatives alleged that Monu was tied up, starved, and physically assaulted continuously between May 17 and May 20. They further claimed that he was later thrown out of the house in a severely injured state before police took him to hospital.
Earlier Case Linked to Minor Girl
Police sources said an earlier case involving the alleged kidnapping of the minor girl had already been registered against Monu at the Tigaon police station in April. The girl was later recovered, and the investigation into that matter was ongoing. Officials have not yet publicly confirmed the allegations of illegal confinement or torture made by the victim’s family.
Police Detain Two Suspects
Faridabad Police said a case has been registered based on a complaint filed by Monu’s family. Authorities confirmed that two suspects have been detained and are being questioned in connection with the incident.
A police spokesperson said the case was being investigated under sections related to kidnapping and other offences. Officials are also examining the circumstances that led to Monu’s injuries and subsequent death.
Investigation Continues
The incident has drawn attention in both Rajasthan and Haryana due to the seriousness of the allegations and the victim’s background as a state-level athlete.
Police have not yet announced any arrests or disclosed whether additional charges, including murder, will be added following Monu’s death. Further investigation is underway.
