Police in Himachal Pradesh's Hamirpur district have registered a case after a woman alleged that her father-in-law threatened and molested her and sent her obscene messages and videos through social media. Authorities said an investigation is underway based on the complaint, and appropriate legal action will be taken after examining the evidence.
According to the police, the woman stated in her complaint that she has been living at her parental home for the past 10 months because she was uncomfortable staying at her matrimonial home. Allegations of Threat and Molestation
The complainant further alleged that in January this year, her father-in-law visited her parental home on the pretext of speaking with her. She claimed that he took her aside, threatened to kill her if she disclosed the messages and videos he had allegedly sent, and then molested her when she resisted. The woman told police she did not approach the authorities immediately because she feared retaliation and was concerned about social stigma.
Police Register FIR, Investigation Underway
Hamirpur police confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered based on the woman's complaint. Investigators said statements will be recorded and digital evidence, including the alleged social media communications, will be examined as part of the probe.
