Srinagar, August 13: Ahead of the Independence Day 2019, preparations and rehearsels are underway in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. This will be the first Independence Day that will be observed in Jammu and Kashmir, after the abrogation of Article 370 and the withdrawal of special status. The dress rehersels and the cultural programmes practice are underway in full swing in Srinagar, reported ANI. On August 5, the Government of India through introduced two bills which scrapped Article 370 and bifurcated the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two separate Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Jammu and Kashmir Celebrates Eid al-Adha After Revocation of Special Status.

The abrogation of Article 370 was preceded by heavy deployement of the armed forces and para-military forces in the valley. The Government also ordered the snapping of communication and abruptions in the internet connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir.

On Monday, Eid al Adha was celebrated peacefully minus the pomp and celebrations amid heavy security in the valley, said reports. Amid massive security arrangements, Jammu and Kashmir marked its first Eid after the revocation of its special status, even as the state administration held a meeting with local clerics to oversee prayer arrangements and ensure peaceful celebrations.
