India also expressed concern over the repeated attacks on commercial shipping in the region, calling for an immediate de-escalation of hostilities.

"The continuing incidents of attacks on commercial shipping in the region are deeply worrisome. We reiterate our call for immediate de-escalation of tensions and the conclusion of ongoing negotiations for a diplomatic solution so that peace and stability can return to the region," the MEA said.

The ministry further stressed that attacks on commercial vessels and civilian infrastructure must stop, urging the restoration of free and unimpeded navigation through international waterways in accordance with international law.

The latest incident comes as tensions involving Iran and the United States continue to escalate, raising concerns over maritime security in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
