PM Modi said, “We believe that terrorism is not a challenge for any one country, but all countries and of mankind as a whole.” PM Modi also urged the world to unite against terror. He said that India had given the world Buddh – founder of Buddhism and not Yudh (War) to underline country’s no war policy.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the contribution of Indian Defence Forces in the UN Peacekeeping Mission. He said,” India is the country that has made the biggest sacrifice at the UN Peacekeeping Mission. We are residents of the country that has given the world excellence and a message of peace, not war.” He also drew the attention of the world towards his government’s decision of banning single-use plastic. PM Modi said, “I am happy to tell the gathering that while I am addressing you today, even at this time, we are running a big campaign to free India from single-use plastic.”

PM Modi, during his address, mentioned that his government built 11 crore toilets in the country. The Prime Minister said, “When a developing nation successfully carries out the biggest cleanliness drive of the world and provides more than 11 crore toilets to its people just within five years.” PM Modi also drew the world’s attention toward India’s commitment to helping the UN to resolve serious problems, including global warming.

Meanwhile, Pakistan PM Khan did not hesitate to make provocative remarks against India. He warned India that there would be a bloodbath when the curfew in Kashmir is lifted. The Pakistan PM said people of Kashmir would come out on streets once the curfew is lifted. He also added that there would be another Pulwama-type terror attack in Kashmir after the Indian government lifts the curfew.

Besides refuting allegations of Pakistan supporting terrorism, Khan also termed India’s claims of destroying Jaish-e-Mohammed terror launchpads in Balakot by the Indian Air Force in February this year, a lie. Meanwhile, India has decided to opt for right to reply to Khan's speech at the UNGA.

Relations between India and Pakistan hit rock bottom after the Modi government scrapped special status of Jammu and Kashmir by abrogating Article 370. The state was also divided into two union territories – Jammu & Kashmir and Leh. After the Modi government's move, Pakistan downgraded bilateral relation with India.
