If you are a Mumbai local train commuter planning to travel on Sunday, May 17, 2026, here is important information you need before stepping out. Central Railway has announced a mega block on its Main Line and Harbour Line in Mumbai for essential engineering and maintenance works, which will affect suburban and some long-distance train services across multiple lines during the day.

Main Line Mega Block Between Thane and Kalyan

The mega block on UP and DOWN fast lines between Thane and Kalyan will be in effect from 10.40 am to 3.40 pm on Sunday.

During this period, Down fast and semi-fast services leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) between 9.34 am and 3.03 pm will run on the slow line between Thane and Kalyan, with additional halts at Kalva, Mumbra, and Diva stations. UP fast and semi-fast services leaving Kalyan between 10.28 am and 3.40 pm will also be diverted via the slow line, stopping at Diva, Mumbra, and Kalva before being redirected at Mulund. Delays of around 10 minutes are expected on this route as well.

Mail and Express Train Diversions

Several Mail and Express trains will face route changes during the block period. Down Mail and Express trains departing from CSMT or Dadar will operate via the 5th line between Thane and Kalyan. UP Mail and Express trains arriving towards CSMT or Dadar will use the 6th line between Kalyan and Thane.

Harbour Line Services Cancelled

A separate mega block will be in place on UP and DOWN Harbour lines between Panvel and Vashi from 11.05 am to 4.05 pm. The Port Line will remain operational. The following services stand cancelled during this period:

Harbour Line Cancellations:

  • UP services towards CSMT leaving Panvel between 10.33 am and 3.49 pm
  • DOWN services towards Belapur and Panvel leaving CSMT between 9.45 am and 3.12 pm

Trans-Harbour Line Cancellations:

  • UP services towards Thane leaving Panvel between 11.02 am and 3.53 pm
  • DOWN services towards Panvel leaving Thane between 10.01 am and 3.20 pm

Special Trains Arranged for Commuters

To minimise inconvenience, Central Railway will operate special local trains between CSMT Mumbai and Vashi during the block period. Trans-Harbour services between Thane and Vashi and Nerul stations will also continue to run through the day.

Railway officials have urged passengers to plan their travel in advance, cooperate during the disruption, and allow extra time for their journeys on Sunday.
