Police in Jaipur's Vishwakarma area have registered a case of abetment of suicide against a woman, her parents, and her brother following the death of her 33-year-old husband, officials confirmed on Friday, August 14. The deceased, identified as a sales manager at a local factory in the Vishwakarma Industrial Area, allegedly took his own life at his rented accommodation in Malhotra Nagar on August 1.

The action follows a formal complaint lodged by the deceased's family, led by his brother Parsh Gillhotra, alongside the recovery of a four-page suicide note found at the scene. Originally hailing from Sadulshahar in Sri Ganganagar district, the deceased had been residing in the Malhotra Nagar area for approximately eight months prior to the incident. Rajasthan: Senior SMS Medical College Professor Dr NL Disania Dies by Suicide After Hanging Himself in Jaipur.

According to Vishwakarma SHO Ravindra Singh, police were alerted after the flat remained locked from the inside with no response to calls. Officers forced entry into the residence, where they found the man hanging.

A forensic team assisted investigating officers in gathering physical evidence from the site. The body was subsequently transferred to Kanwatiya Hospital for a post-mortem examination before being handed over to the family for final rites. During a search conducted in the presence of family members, police recovered the handwritten suicide note. Double Suicide Rocks Jodhpur: 2 Sisters Die by Suicide Hours Before Their Wedding Day in Rajasthan.

In the suicide note, the deceased explicitly named his wife, Shefali, her parents, and her brother, holding them directly responsible for his decision to end his life. He alleged that his wife prevented him from meeting or speaking with their young daughter and used access to the child as leverage to extract money.

Expanding on the allegations, Parsh Gillhotra stated in the official police complaint that his brother was repeatedly subjected to taunts regarding his complexion by his in-laws shortly after the marriage. Gillhotra further alleged that the in-laws pressured him to cut ties with his parents and live separately.

The complaint further details that the wife moved to her parental home with their daughter and allegedly demanded either ₹20 lakh or a residential house in exchange for allowing the father contact with his child. The family also alleged that false legal cases had previously been filed against them by the in-laws.

Vishwakarma police have formally registered an FIR under relevant provisions for abetment of suicide against the named individuals. SHO Ravindra Singh stated that further investigation is actively underway to verify all claims made in the complaint and suicide note.
