Rajasthan Police have arrested a 45-year-old man in Sikar district for allegedly murdering his wife and three adult daughters at their home in Jaipur. The suspect, identified as Rahul Jha, fled to the famous Khatu Shyamji temple to offer prayers following the brutal crime before being apprehended on Sunday in Reengus after running out of money.

The horrific incident came to light on Friday morning at the family's residence in the Govindpura area under the Kardhani police station limits. Neighbors alerted authorities after noticing an unusual silence at the house. Responding police officers discovered the bodies of Jha’s wife, Geeta (40), and their three daughters—Nandani (20), Radhika (17), and Gauri (14)—in a room, covered in blood. According to preliminary police investigations, Jha allegedly incapacitated his family members with sedatives or poison mixed into their food while they slept. Fearing they might survive, he then used a heavy 10-kg concrete block to strike each victim on the head, inflicting fatal injuries. Forensic teams have collected evidence from the scene, including the concrete block, to confirm the exact sequence of events.
Following the killings, Jha collected morning milk from a delivery person at around 7:00 AM, prepared tea for his elderly father, and informed him that he was stepping out. He then boarded a bus to Khatushyamji in Sikar district, where he offered prayers and checked into a local hotel. Jha’s escape plan unraveled when he ran out of funds to clear his hotel bill. Reports indicate he attempted to sell his ring to the hotel manager for ₹500, but the owner declined. Leaving the hotel, Jha traveled to nearby Reengus while attempting to cover his face. Jaipur Police, supported by the Crime Special Team (CST), had launched a multi-district manhunt and announced a ₹25,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. Tracking his movements via CCTV footage and technical intelligence, law enforcement intercepted and detained Jha in Reengus on Sunday.
Initial interrogations suggest that Jha was under immense psychological stress caused by mounting financial debt and ongoing family disputes. Police Commissioner Sachin Mittal and Special Commissioner Omprakash monitored the operation. Investigators plan to present Jha in court on Monday following formal questioning.
