Jalaun, January 30: The Jalaun Police have issued an official clarification after a viral video sparked outrage by allegedly showing a police officer intoxicated while on duty in Uttar Pradesh’s Jalaun district. The incident pertains to January 29, 2026, and occurred within the jurisdiction of the Kadaura police station.

According to the police statement, a caller contacted Dial-112 reporting that his brother, Ravikant, was heavily intoxicated and verbally abusing him, his parents, and other family members. Police said Ravikant was in an extreme state of intoxication and became aggressive during the intervention. He allegedly attempted to confront the police team and turned violent. During efforts to separate the caller and the accused, Head Constable Arvind, who was holding a torch, was reportedly struck in the face with a punch. The police clarification further stated that the head constable, feeling unwell, gestured with the torch and asked for water. The caller, identified as Shashikant, helped by providing water. Authorities stressed that the officer had not consumed alcohol at the spot.

The clarification comes amid widespread circulation of a video that appeared to show a policeman behaving unsteadily, which led to public embarrassment and criticism of the police force.
