Srinagar, September 28: The encounter between Indian security forces and terrorists in the Batote area of Ramban, Jammu and Kashmir which broke out on Saturday, came to an end with the rescue of the hostage. In the operations,one army personnel lost his life and two policemen sustained injuries. The update was provided by Jammu Inspector General of police (IG) Mukesh Singh, who was quoted by news agency ANI. Earlier in the day, the Indian security personnel had neutralised three terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal area in another incident.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police said that after an intense chase, the terrorists had entered the house of a civilian in Batote town which was immediately cordoned off. The senior officers reached the spot and supervised the operation. Trapped terrorists had fired on a security team in the morning and tried to escape.

The terrorists barged into a neighbouring house, and while all the members of their families came out, their father was held in the house by the terrorists.

A local in Batote area of Ramban, Jammu and Kashmir, was quoted saying by news agency ANI that three people in civil dress and guns in hands went to a neighbouring house and all the members of their families came out. However, their father could not escape as he was held in the house by the terrorists. The man said that army personnel rescued him and other members of his family.
