Update by ANI:

Mobile internet, was resumed in some areas of Jammu few days ago, was clamped down after it was brought to notice that anti-social elements attempted to fuel unrest.

Jammu & Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik had, last week,  defended the prolonged restrictions on mobile and internet services. "For us every life is important. Please try to understand the reasons behind these restrictions. Who uses phone and internet? It is of little use for us but is mostly exploited by terrorists and Pakistanis," Malik told reporters.

Notably, Kashmir has remained on the edge since August 5, when the Centre issued an executive order abrogating Article 370, which granted special status to the state. With its revocation, public sector jobs and ownership of property would no longer be reserved for ethnic Kashmiris alone.
