A familyтАЩs persistent inquiries regarding a relative allegedly living in Australia┬аhave led Gujarat police to uncover an alleged murder concealed for over two years. Investigators exhumed skeletal remains believed to belong to Jignesh Mavadiya from a 12-foot pit beneath an industrial shed in Jamnagar. The police have arrested the victim's wife, Prithvi (also known as Bhumiben), her alleged lover Nilesh Kachhatia, and their associate Balveer Verma. The three suspects face charges including murder and destruction of evidence.

Unravelling the 'Australia' Fabrication

According to investigators, Jignesh had been out of contact with his relatives for nearly two years following a love marriage that left him a father of two daughters. Throughout this period, his wife allegedly maintained that he had relocated to Australia for employment and remained unreachable because his employer prohibited phone calls.┬аAnimal Cruelty in Gujarat: Man Beats Several Puppies, Throws Dog From 2nd Floor in Jamnagar.

Cyanide-Laced Liquor and Concrete Cover-Up Exposed by Police

The cover-up began to unravel when one of Jignesh's cousins planned a trip to Australia and asked Prithvi for an address or contact number to arrange a meeting. Her repeated failure to provide details raised suspicions among family members, who eventually threatened to notify authorities. Following a formal missing person complaint filed on July 26 by the victim's brother, Ashok Mavadiya, the City "B" Division police station registered an FIR against Prithvi, Nilesh Kachhatia, and Balveer Verma.

Confession and Recovery of Remains

During subsequent police questioning, Prithvi allegedly confessed that she and the co-accused murdered Jignesh by administering cyanide in his liquor. Investigators state that on the night of May 31, 2024, the suspects lured Jignesh to an industrial shed in the Dared GIDC area under the guise of a social gathering. After he consumed the laced alcohol, they allegedly dug a 12-foot pit, buried the body, and sealed the burial site with a concrete layer nearly one foot thick. Assistant Superintendent of Police Pratibha noted that authorities had to deploy power tools to break through the thick concrete layer during the excavation.┬аGujarat Shocker: 70-Year-Old Man Kills Daughter-in-Law and Her Mother in Bharuch, Arrested.
