According to police, Google's automated safety system detected suspected child sexual abuse material stored in the accused's account. The company subsequently suspended the account and reported the matter to the US-based National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), which forwarded the information to Indian law enforcement authorities.
Following the alert, the Kanpur cyber cell and Chaman Ganj police launched a technical investigation to identify the account holder.Β Additional DCP Anjali Vishwakarma said investigators tracked the accused using the email account details, IP address and the IMEI number of the mobile phone allegedly used in the case.
During questioning, the accused allegedly admitted that he had recorded the videos himself and stored them on his Google Drive account. Police have seized the mobile phone believed to have been used for recording and storing the videos as part of the investigation.
Police said the accused's family cooperated with investigators throughout the inquiry. According to officials, their assistance helped confirm the accused's identity and enabled officers to intervene quickly to prevent the alleged videos from being circulated further.
A case has been registered against the accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Investigators are now examining whether the videos remained stored only in the cloud account or were shared with anyone else.
