A video allegedly showing a Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC) bus being driven without functioning headlights has gone viral on social media, raising serious concerns about passenger safety and vehicle maintenance.
According to reports, the incident took place on the last bus service operating from Kalaburagi city to Chincholi, a town located around 90 kilometres away. The video captures the bus travelling along a dark stretch of road while its headlights appear to be non-functional.
In the viral clip, the conductor is seen using the flashlight of a mobile phone in an apparent attempt to assist the driver with visibility. The faint beam from the phone torch contrasts sharply with the darkness surrounding the road, highlighting the risky conditions under which the bus was allegedly operating. Karnataka: Doctors Use Phone Torch To Stitch Wound Amid Power Outage at Ballari Hospital, Video Surfaces.
It remains unclear at what stage of the journey the bus developed the headlight problem or whether the fault existed before the vehicle left the depot. There has also been no official statement from the transport corporation regarding the incident at the time of writing.
