Ketan Agarwal Murder Case: Why Deceased's Sister Refused To Believe the Accident Theory

What was initially recorded as a tragic trekking mishap at Pune’s historic Lohagad Fort has been reclassified as a premeditated murder investigation after key interventions by the victim's sister exposed an elaborate plot. Ketan Agarwal, a 26-year-old local businessman, died on June 18 after falling into a deep gorge during an outing with his fiancée, 20-year-old Siya Goyal. Following a detailed investigation prompted by the family's doubts, the Lonavala Rural Police arrested Siya and her lover, 22-year-old Chetan Chaudhary, charging them with murder and conspiracy.

Suspicious Behaviour at Family Condolence Visit

Immediately after the incident, local authorities registered a case of accidental death, operating under the initial narrative that Ketan had simply slipped while taking photographs. However, Ketan’s sister consistently questioned the accident theory, pointing out unanswered gaps in the sequence of events. Siya Goyal Party Video: Ketan Agarwal Murder-Accused Seen at Birthday Celebration.

The turning point occurred four days after the funeral when Siya visited the Agarwal family home to offer condolences. During the visit, Ketan's sister questioned her in detail about the timeline and the couple's recent activities, which included three separate trekking trips to Lohagad Fort on May 31, June 14, and June 18. Inconsistencies in Siya's replies and her evasive responses deepened the sister's doubts. After she shared her observations with the rest of the family, they formally approached senior police officials to request a fresh, thorough probe.

The 'Hoodie' Clue and Electronic Footprints

On the family's insistence, investigators began reviewing local digital evidence, focusing heavily on area surveillance tapes and technical data. CCTV footage from around Lohagad Fort revealed a significant anomaly: a man wearing a thick winter hoodie, despite the intense June heat, tracking closely behind Ketan and Siya's vehicle and mirroring their movements. The unusual choice of attire in summer weather drew immediate attention from cyber units, who later mapped and identified the individual as Chetan Chaudhary.

Subsequent audits of cellular records revealed that Siya and Chetan had been in a relationship for three years. Call Detail Records (CDR) showed the duo had spoken 2,004 times between January and June of this year alone, accumulating 238 hours on regular mobile networks, alongside frequent unlogged communication via FaceTime and WhatsApp calls.

Confession and Allegations of Family Awareness

Confronted with the conflicting technical data and physical timelines, both suspects gave vague answers before cracking under sustained interrogation. According to the police, the duo admitted to pushing Ketan off the cliff edge and attempting to stage it as an accidental slip. The investigation also brought to light complex domestic dynamics. The Agarwal family has formally alleged that Siya's family was fully aware of her relationship with Chetan before the engagement but pushed ahead with the marriage alliance regardless, assuring the groom's family that any personal issues would resolve themselves. 33 Degrees Celsius and a Hoodie! Current Legal Status in the Ketan Agarwal Murder Case

The police formally altered the case files from accidental death to murder and arrested Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary. Both suspects remain in police custody under a local magistrate's remand. Investigators are currently conducting forensic cross-examinations to determine if any other family members or associates acted as external facilitators in the murder conspiracy.
