Kutch East Police have arrested a man and his wife following allegations by their 14-year-old daughter that her father subjected her to repeated s*xual assault at their home near Anjar, while her mother allegedly filmed the offense on a mobile phone. The arrests were made on Friday night, October 2, after the teenager managed to contact the police control room and was brought to the Anjar police station to record her statement. Authorities confirmed that a mobile phone containing photographs and video footage linked to the crime has been recovered.
Dispute Over Phone Call Triggers Abuse
According to police, the ordeal began after the girl's father grew angry upon hearing her speaking to a boy, who may have been a friend or acquaintance. The father reportedly smashed her phone, assaulted her, and committed the s*xual assault in the presence of her mother, reports The Times of India. Anjar police inspector H.A. Jadeja explained that the victim had initially attempted to call the police control room two or three days prior. However, before a police vehicle could reach the location, the father switched off the phone, making it difficult for law enforcement to trace the family.
Rescue and Arrests
On Friday, October 2, the teenager successfully accessed a phone once more and dialed the emergency number 112 to report the s*xual assault. Police promptly brought her to the station, registered a formal case, and took both parents into custody. The family, originally hailing from Uttar Pradesh, had been residing near Anjar for approximately six years working as daily wage labourers. The couple has four daughters, with the victim being the eldest. An offense has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rape, alongside provisions for aggravated penetrative sexual assault under the Protection of Children from S*xual Offences (POCSO) Act.
