New Delhi, February 6: In West Bengal, the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday requested the state government to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the Kolkata Police commissioner Rajeev Kumar for sitting on a dharna with West Bengal CM & some other police officers. The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar to make himself available before the CBI and "faithfully" cooperate with the agency in the investigation of cases arising out of the Saradha chit fund scam probe.
Meanwhile, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched India’s latest communication satellite, GSAT-31 from the Spaceport in French Guiana at 2:31 am on Tuesday.
In Gorakhpur, shops at 'khichdi mela' near Gorakhnath Temple were decked up with special 'khajla' sweets. The mela starts from January 14 and will continue till March. Meanwhile, in Leh, the monks performed a mask dance at the two-day-long 'Mela Dhosmochey' celebrated at Likir Monastery.
In Bulandshahr, three persons have been arrested in Chhatari on Tuesday for cheating people in the name of Bharat Gramin Solar Mission, & selling them duplicate equipment. The Police investigation into the matter is currently underway.
