Eight trains have been cancelled, Five trains diverted, 10 trains short-terminated and Five trains short-originated today following the train accident between Amritsar & Manawala yesterday evening.

In a major tragedy, at least 60 people were killed in Amritsar after a speeding train ran over them at Joda Phatak. The accident was reported on Friday evening, when several people had gathered to watch Ravan Dahan. The train which caused the accident was travelling from Amritsar to Pathankot.

Amid the huge protest after the Supreme Court's Sabarimala verdict, the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) on Friday decided to file an appeal against the apex court's order of allowing women of every age to enter the historical shrine. The Board also said it is ready for any sort of compromise to end this extreme scenario.

The counting of votes for the Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Elections 2018 is set to take place today and the results would be out soon after. The counting of votes will begin at 9 am and the clear picture is likely to emerge within a couple of hours. Voting took place in four phases on October 8, 10, 13 and 16 and a dismal total voter turnout of 35.1 percent was recorded in the state amid the boycott call by the two main parties.
