The victim’s body was discovered on Saturday morning in a vacant field in Mahmoodpur village, under the jurisdiction of the Kankerkhera Police Station. According to investigators, the body bore multiple deep injuries to the head and neck. The struggle was so violent that one of the victim's fingers was severed during the attack. The motive behind the crime stems from a tangled set of relationships. Police revealed that Gulafshan’s husband, Monu, was reportedly in a relationship with Sonu’s wife and had recorded an explicit video of her. Gulafshan allegedly used this footage to extort money from Sonu, threatening to circulate it online if her demands were not met.
Distressed by the persistent blackmail, Sonu lured Gulafshan to a secluded field on Friday night under the pretext of a meeting. There, he allegedly attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon. Gulafshan had left her home earlier that evening, telling her family she was going to buy books for her children.
Following a formal complaint by the victim’s father, Shahid, the police launched a swift investigation that led to Sonu’s arrest. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, citing the mental pressure and fear of social defamation caused by the blackmail. Authorities have recovered the murder weapon from a spot near the crime scene. Sonu is currently in judicial custody as further legal proceedings continue.
