The incident took place aboard Train No. 90663, which departed from Churchgate station at 10:05 PM. As the argument escalated, the unidentified suspect pulled out a sharp weapon and stabbed Lohar in the abdomen, inflicting severe injuries. Moments before the train pulled into Borivali station at 11:04 PM, the assailant jumped from the moving carriage near Platform 6 and escaped the premises. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP) responded to the scene immediately upon the train’s arrival. Emergency teams moved Lohar on a stretcher to the Borivali station medical room by 11:22 PM. On the recommendation of the attending doctor, he was transferred via ambulance to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali, where he later succumbed to his wounds during treatment.
The Borivali GRP has registered a formal murder case and deployed multiple investigative teams to track down the assailant. Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage from multiple transit stations and attempting to trace fellow passengers who may have witnessed the altercation. Lohar, a resident of Virar, was commuting home from his job at a private firm in Andheri when the confrontation occurred. He is survived by his parents, three brothers, and a sister. The fatal assault marks the second major stabbing reported on the Western Railway suburban network this year. In February, a 32-year-old college lecturer was stabbed at Malad station during a boarding dispute, an incident that resulted in the swift arrest of the perpetrator.
