Mumbai, September 8: The Mumbai police recently arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly kidnapping a woman's five-year-old daughter in the city. The accused, identified as Riton Ghosh, allegedly kidnapped the minor girl after her mother rejected his marriage proposal. The accused, a resident of West Bengal, was arrested by police after they scanned three trains and found the accused hiding in the toilet of a running train.

According to a report in the Times of India, the police not only arrested the accused but also rescued the minor girl. Police officials said that Ghosh kidnapped the minor girl in order to get even with the woman. Cops also said that the accused is known to the child's family and used to visit them on a regular basis. Ghosh allegedly kidnapped the girl from her house. Speaking about the incident, a police officer said, "After the girl's mother came to Nagpada police station, we began collected information about the accused and the girl. We learnt that the accused could leave for Kolkata. So, our teams went to CSMT and LTT and started searching for the girl and the accused."

The police received information stating that the accused could take Shalimar Express to go to West Bengal. Acting on the tip-off, the police alerted the government railway police (GRP) at Igatpuri to nab the accused. Police also sent photos of the girl and the accused to the GRP to nab the accused. After his arrest, the accused was handed over to Nagpada police which took custody of the accused. Cops also reunited the girl with her family. An officer said that the accused had one-sided love for the girl's mother. "He offered her to leave her husband and marry him, but when she rejected his proposal, he kidnapped her daughter to teach her a lesson," he said.
