Mumbai, August 12: A man was held for sexual assault after he was caught winking and staring at a woman. The incident happened in a Churchgate-bound local. According to a Times of India report, the accused winked at her and stared at her. When her son saw him leering at his mother, an argument happened between the two, and the man reportedly assaulted him. Other commuters pulled the chain and the train stopped at Matunga station. Last year, a blind 15-year-old girl in Mumbai used her self-defence skills to tackle a man who allegedly sexually molested her on a suburban train in Mumbai, and detained him until the police arrived according to authorities. Mumbai's packed local trains, which often run with more passengers than it can hold, are a major cause of inconvenience as offenders take advantage of the situation to assault women. From groping to flashing, women commuters have reported many incidents where their safety has been compromised.
