Mumbai, July 22: How far would one go to shame the authorities for not doing their work which ends up giving Mumbai the title of 'pothole capital' along with the financial capital of India? You can't find a better way than Navin Lade. The Mumbai resident and the Republican Party of India (RPI) general secretary of the employment wing, came up with an idea to shame the authorities by glorifying the 'infamous' potholes of Mumbai. Navin Lade has applied to the Guinness World Records and Limca Book of Records, in a bid to get global attention to the local potholes of Mumbai , reported English daily Mumbai Mirror.

Lade's modus operandi is to first go about collecting pictures and videos of the city's potholes, which are also responsible for several deaths on the roads of 'maximum' city. According to the report in Mumbai Mirror, Lade paid the application fees of Rs 350 to the Guinness Records, so as to get his application accepted. The Guiness, takes about 2 months to reply on what kind of evidence and paper work it would require to consider a prospective entry at this price.

But knowing that by then, Mumbai Monsoon would be a dying force, and the authorities can do some shoddy work to cover-up the potholes, Lade has agreed to pay the amount of US $1000 to the Guinness Records. At this price, the World Record Books' will convey the kind of evidence they would need in just five days. Lade is now fighting against time to collect as many photographs and clips of the potholes as possible. He certainly isn't falling short of potholes though, as there are plenty of them on the streets of Mumbai.  Lade said that he wants those in power to get their act together and is appalled at the fact that the civic authorities in Mumbai remain unaffected by the plight of Mumbaikars, who face the double whammy of torrid rains and potholes due to the authorities negligence.
