Raipur, August 31: A village Sarpanch (village head) was killed by naxals in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district on Friday night. The incident took place in Chote Gudra village of Dantewada district. Lakma Mandavi, the Sarpanch of Chhote Gudra village, was killed by the naxals. "He was murdered by a small action team of naxals on the night of 30 August at about 10 pm. The village comes under the limits of Kuakonda Police Station," informed the Superintendent of Police, Dantewada, Abhishek Pallav. This is the second such instance of naxal violence within a week.

The naxals on Tuesday had killed the Sarpanch of Kanker district. Pamphlets dropped by the maoists at the spot claimed that he was an RSS worker. Dadu Singh Parotiya was hacked to death after being shot in the leg. Chhattisgarh: Seven Naxals Killed by Security Forces in Encounter in Rajnandgaon.

Dadu Singh Parotiya (50) was attacked outside his house at village Konde under Durgkondal police station limits on Tuesday night, Kanker Superintendent of Police K L Dhruv told PTI. The village is 200 km away from Raipur. As per the preliminary probe, naxals asked him to come out of the house and shot him in the leg. The present case from Chote Gudra village of Dantewada district has gripped the area under tension. The police is trying to ascertain the killers and have said that an inquiry is underway in both the cases.

In another naxal attack on Friday, a District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan was injured in an IED blast by naxals in Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh on Friday. The incident took place in Mankeli village of Bijapur Kotwali area.

The injured jawan has been identified as Neela Udde and is said to be out of danger, according to DIG Anti Naxal Ops, P Sundarraj. Earlier this month, a villager died in an IED blast by the naxals in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh. The matter is under investigation.
