Police in Uttar Pradesh's Bhadohi district have arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly recording objectionable videos and photos of female students through a hole in a digital library’s washroom wall. The accused, identified as Ravi Shankar Gupta, was taken into custody after students caught him red-handed and recovered several illicit recordings from his mobile phone.

The incident occurred at a private digital library situated near the Lal Nagar toll plaza along National Highway 19, operating within a building owned by Gupta's father. On Thursday afternoon, female students using the facility noticed a small hole drilled into the washroom wall. Upon inspecting the hole, they observed that it connected directly to an adjacent private room occupied by the building owner’s family. Bhadohi: 1 Forced Into Marriage, Other Denied Love; Childhood Friends Consume Poison, 1 Dies.

Suspicious of the setup, students confronted Gupta inside the room and demanded to see his phone. Upon examining his device's gallery, they uncovered roughly 12 objectionable photos and videos of female students using the washroom, with at least one recording dating back nearly two months, indicating a prolonged pattern of voyeurism.

The students promptly reported the matter to the library operator, Bharthari Bind, who lodged a formal complaint at the local police station late Thursday night. Following the complaint, Gopiganj police arrested Gupta on Friday and seized his mobile device. Uttar Pradesh: Class 12 Student Found Hanging Hours After Minor Girl’s Family Files Assault, Molestation Complaint.

Authorities registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology (IT) Act. According to Gopiganj Station House Officer (SHO) Sacchidanand Pandey, the seized mobile phone has been dispatched to a forensic lab for detailed analysis. Investigators are actively checking whether any recorded content was transmitted, shared, or uploaded across social media platforms or external websites.

The library facility, which served around 28 students preparing for competitive examinations, has been temporarily closed down following the incident.
