In a major relief for medical aspirants, the Punjab government has announced that it will provide free bus transportation across the state for all students appearing for the upcoming National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate) re-examination. The decision ensures that students can travel free of cost on all Punjab Roadways buses for a three-day period spanning June 20, 21, and 22. To avail of the waiver, candidates will only need to present their official NEET admit card as a valid ticket to conductors.

The policy initiative follows a public appeal by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, who recently interacted with candidates over social media to gather feedback regarding the challenges they faced after the original exam was cancelled. Highlighting the decision on Wednesday, Kejriwal posted on social media platform X: "Hello bacchon, Based on your suggestions, Punjab government has decided to make the bus services for all NEET students free during June 20-22. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann confirmed the decision subsequently, stating that the financial strain of traveling back to examination centers should not burden students from economically weaker sections. State officials noted that many students had raised concerns about the unforeseen financial and logistical challenges of commuting a second time. ‘Can’t Our Gen-Z Send Ministers to Jail?’: Arvind Kejriwal Calls on Gen Z To Protest Against NEET UG 2026 Exam Paper Leaks (Watch Video).

The development comes in the wake of the Union Education Ministry and National Testing Agency's (NTA) decision to cancel the May 3 NEET-UG examination following widespread allegations of institutional irregularities and paper leaks. The re-examination has been officially rescheduled for June 21, 2026, and will be conducted under significantly upgraded security and monitoring protocols.
