Palghar, August 11: Two boys drowned in a pond at Mokhada in Maharashtra's Palghar district, police said. According to cops, the incident took place on Thursday. The deceased have been identified as Arshan Akhlaq Shaikh and Farhan Shakir Khatik-both aged seven. In a similar incident from Palghar, a woman, who went to celebrate her birthday in Kohoj Fort, was allegedly drowned in floodwaters. The deceased was identified as Pinkel Shah, a resident of Borivali. The four friends who accompanied her were lucky as they survived by holding the tree roots.

On July 21, two women drowned at Mumbai's Juhu beach. According to reports, the women went into the rough sea for a swim ignoring the warnings by the locals and guards.
