What Did Parvesh Verma Say?
Reacting to the viral video, Parvesh Verma said that the incident should not have happened but alleged that there was more to the confrontation. He claimed that the man had abused his family, which led to him losing his temper.
Verma also alleged that attempts were being made to disrupt government work and accused an AAP MLA of seeking commission from contractors. Parvesh Verma Alleges Pressure on PWD Engineer
According to Verma, road construction work has been underway on the Vikas Puri Ring Road for several days. He alleged that local MLA Jarnail Singh was pressuring a PWD engineer to arrange a meeting with the contractor and was trying to seek a commission. Verma further claimed that after allegedly failing to receive the commission, attempts were made to damage the newly laid road at night. He said he visited the location to inspect the road work and spoke to local residents who told him that the road had not been constructed for around 15 years.
Minister Claims Confrontation Escalated
Verma said he had called Jarnail Singh three times and waited for around 45 minutes before the MLA arrived with his supporters. According to the minister, an argument broke out after the group arrived and allegedly misbehaved.
Verma also said that the government would conduct a third-party audit and core-cutting tests of the road work to establish the quality of construction.
The viral video showing the alleged slapping incident has meanwhile intensified the political exchange between the BJP-led Delhi government and the AAP.
