Mumbai, October 16: The Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA) has written a letter to Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu on 'One Rank One Pay' for pilots. The association accused the top management of not considering the demand of pilots and turning blind eye to the issue. In the letter, the association wrote, "we fail to understand as to why the top management has turned a blind eye to this issue which is bleeding national carrier of high-value foreign exchange."

Letter of the ICPA to Suresh Prabhu:

Meanwhile, in September, a section of Air India pilots has asked the airline's management to roll back its recent order to recover overtime flying allowance paid to pilots of its Airbus fleet in the past two-and-half-years, and warned of 'industrial action' if the demand was not accepted. The ICPA made the demand in a letter written to Air India (AI) chairman and managing director Pradeep Singh Kharola. The association claimed that the decision was taken without any consultation with the pilots’ body. The ICPA said the allowance was being paid as per a proposal cleared by the aviation ministry in January 2016.

In June also, the ICPA threatened to stop complete cooperation with the management in lieu of the delay in their salaries. In a letter to the ICPA's Central Executive Committee (CEC), the Regional Executive Committee (REC) said the non-cooperation would continue until salary payment is regularised and normal functioning is restored.
