Addressing media and supporters from his fast site in Jalna district, Jarange declared that while he is ready to accept death for the cause of Maratha reservation, he will not yield to intimidation or cancel the agitation.
The activist alleged that political adversaries and certain faction leaders are conspiring to physically eliminate him to disrupt the movement. Jarange emphasized that the planned march to the state capital will remain strictly peaceful and democratic, appealing to his supporters to maintain absolute discipline despite potential provocations or roadblocks by authorities. He warned law enforcement agencies against unnecessarily barricading the rally's route, stating protesters would simply sit on the roads rather than turn back. The development comes amid a tense standoff over the Maratha community's demands for reservation in government jobs and education. Jarange has been pressing the state administration to recognize eligible Marathas under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category by granting them Kunbi caste certificates based on historical gazette records.
Legal challenges surrounding the march have also escalated. The Bombay High Court recently declined an urgent plea seeking to halt the demonstration, observing that peaceful protest is a fundamental right that cannot be curtailed merely on the assumption of potential law and order issues. Despite health concerns stemming from his ongoing hunger strike, Jarange reiterated that the community's resolve remains unshaken. He called on Maratha youth to refrain from any unlawful activity, asserting that the battle for constitutional rights will be fought through democratic means until the state government fully implements its promises.
