Pune, January 23: In a heart-wrenching incident that has sparked outrage and renewed concerns over safety inside residential complexes, a five-year-old boy lost his life after being run over by a speeding car in Pune’s Loni Kalbhor area. The tragic accident, which occurred inside the society premises, was captured on CCTV and has since gone viral on social media.

The deceased has been identified as Nishkarsh Ashwat Swami (5), son of Ashwat Narayan Swami (40), a resident of Joy Nest Society in Loni Kalbhor. According to police officials, the accident took place around 3:30 pm on Monday, January 19. Nishkarsh had been brought down to the society premises by his grandmother, Saraswati Reddy. CCTV footage shows the moment of impact, following which the vehicle stops a short distance ahead. The driver is seen stepping out and rushing back to check on the injured child as residents gather at the spot. Nishkarsh, who sustained critical injuries, was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital in the same vehicle. However, doctors declared him dead before treatment could begin.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the locality, with residents demanding stricter speed regulations, better monitoring of vehicles, and enhanced child safety measures within housing societies in Pune. Police said further investigation is underway, and action will be taken based on CCTV evidence and eyewitness accounts.
