A major tragedy was narrowly averted in Bengaluru on Thursday night after a speeding Skoda car jumped the road divider and rammed into the wall of Barbeque Nation on Indiranagar’s busy 100 Feet Road. The accident occurred around 11.35 pm and was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the area. Police said the car was driven by 42-year-old Derrick Tony, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and travelling at high speed from 18th Main Road towards 100 Feet Road. Tony reportedly failed to negotiate a left turn, drove straight into the divider, hit a two-wheeler, and then crashed into the restaurant. A group of diners standing outside narrowly escaped, as seen in the chilling 10-second video. No deaths were reported. The two-wheeler rider, Jabir Ahmed, suffered minor injuries and was hospitalised. A case has been registered at the Jeevan Bheema Nagar Traffic Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
