A shocking quadruple murder case in Rajasthan's Ajmer district has left residents stunned after police alleged that a woman helped kill four members of her own family and later pretended to mourn their deaths to avoid suspicion.
The case came to light when villagers spotted a burning Scorpio SUV on a highway near Shrirampura village in Ajmer. Three charred bodies were found inside the vehicle, while a fourth body was recovered from a nearby field. Initially believed to be a tragic road accident, the incident took a dramatic turn after forensic teams discovered injuries suggesting foul play.
The victims were identified as former sarpanch Ram Singh Choudhary, his mother Poosi Devi, his second wife Suryagyan Devi and a relative, Mahima Chaudhary. Ajmer Fire: 4 Family Members, Including Former Sarpanch, Burnt to Death Inside Vehicle in Rajasthan (Watch Video).
According to police, the investigation gradually uncovered evidence pointing to a carefully planned murder. Officers allege that Ram Singh's first wife, Sunita Choudhary, along with her daughter Sarita and minor son, attacked the four victims with sharp-edged weapons following a family dispute linked to Ram Singh's second marriage.
Ajmer Superintendent of Police Harsh Vardhan Agarwala said tensions within the family had been simmering for a long time. Both of Ram Singh's wives reportedly lived in the same house, leading to ongoing conflict. Police claim that after the killings, the accused loaded the bodies into Ram Singh's Scorpio SUV and set the vehicle on fire on a highway to make the deaths appear as a fatal accident. However, forensic evidence, technical analysis and statements from local villagers allegedly exposed inconsistencies in the accident theory.
Investigators were particularly struck by Sunita's behaviour after the incident. According to police, she appeared devastated, crying among mourners and telling officers that Ram Singh had taken his mother to the hospital after she complained of chest pain. Authorities now allege that this account was part of an effort to mislead investigators.
As the probe progressed, police say scientific evidence and local inputs helped unravel the alleged conspiracy. Sunita Choudhary and her two children have been detained and are being questioned in connection with the murders and the alleged cover-up.
The gruesome case has sent shockwaves across Rajasthan, with many residents expressing disbelief over the allegations and the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
