The accused, Ravindra Ganpat Erande, had initially reported that his tablet was stolen from his office in the Satpur area and that he was being blackmailed by four men demanding INR 12 lakh to prevent the leak of his private photos and videos online.

Acting on his complaint, police set a trap and arrested four suspects identified as Akash Pundlik Bakre, Prakash Ramdas Panpatil, Suraj Sunil Gawai and Shreepat Bhimrao Shinde. Authorities seized multiple devices including mobile phones, pen drives and a memory card. The situation escalated further when one of the women featured in the videos came forward with serious allegations against Erande. She accused him of repeatedly s*xually assaulting her at various hotels under the false promise of securing a government job for her son. Following her complaint, police arrested Erande under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, along with relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.

Investigators now believe that Erande may have exploited multiple women and recorded obscene videos of them over a period of time.
