Pankaj and Manish, two of the three main accused in the Rewari gangrape case, have been arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), said media reports. Both were nabbed from Mahendragarh early in the morning. The other accused, Nishu, was already arrested last Sunday. Haryana Chief Minister Mahohar Lal Khattar had recently assured the people through media that the accused would be soon arrested.

The girl was on her way to the coaching centre when three men purportedly abducted and dragged her to a field, where they sexually assaulted her. The accused gave her sedatives, before raping her. The girl was left unconscious at a bus stand in Kanina, 116 km from Gurgaon.

Maha Panchayat of 51 villages was organised in Rewari on Friday over the recent gangrape of a CBSE topper in the district. A Jan Sangarsh Committee was formed to help the Rewari gangrape victim get justice and also to help prevent similar incidents from occurring in future.
