Suspects Apprehended and Digital Evidence Seized
The three individuals taken into custody have been identified by authorities as Ravikumar, 24, a resident of Chilakamukhi village in the Bagalkot district; Chandrakanth, 33, a native of Shivamogga residing in Bengaluru; and Ranjith, 25, also a resident of Bengaluru. During the arrest operation, cybercrime detectives seized three mobile phones from the suspects. The devices are undergoing forensic examination to trace the exact AI tools used to construct the deepfakes and map out the distribution network. The accused were presented before a judicial magistrate and have been remanded to custody as the investigation continues.

Actress Highlights Broader Harassment Concerns
The police intervention follows a formal complaint filed by Vasanth after the manipulated media went viral. In her initial public statement addressing the controversy, the actor strongly condemned the misuse of artificial intelligence, clarifying that the visuals were entirely fabricated. "My team and I have come across certain AI-generated images being circulated online claiming to be me. I want to state clearly that these images are entirely fake and fabricated," Vasanth wrote in a statement. "The creation and circulation of such manipulated content is deeply irresponsible and a serious violation of privacy," she added.
Speaking subsequently to the media, Vasanth emphasised that the weaponisation of deepfakes poses a significant societal danger beyond the entertainment industry. "Not just actresses, this happens to a lot of girls. I don't think it's something to be done. The Cyber Crime Police Station has registered a First Information Report (FIR) invoking multiple sections of the Information Technology (IT) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigators have formally reached out to major tech platforms, including Meta, to secure user data, IP addresses, and digital footprints necessary to verify if additional actors were involved in creating or funding the targeted harassment campaign.
