A s*x racket was busted in Maharashtra's Beed after the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) raided two locations under the jurisdiction of Beed Rural Police Station in a single day. During the operation, police rescued six women, booked five accused under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956 and seized cash, vehicles, mobile phones, 60 condoms and other material collectively valued at around INR 5.21 lakh.
According to police, the first raid was carried out near Charata Cross Road on the outskirts of Beed city after the AHTU received a tip-off on July 29. A decoy customer allegedly paid INR 1,000 to strike a prostitution deal, following which the police team conducted a raid. A woman was taken into custody and the two marked INR 500 currency notes handed over to the decoy customer were recovered from her. Later, the AHTU raided a massage centre at Bahirwadi on the Dhule–Solapur National Highway after another decoy customer signalled that money had allegedly been accepted for arranging pr*stitution. Police rescued five women, including some allegedly brought from West Bengal, and found seven male customers inside the premises. During the search, officers seized one four-wheeler, four two-wheelers, two Android mobile phones, 60 unused condoms, records of online financial transactions and cash, taking the total value of the seized property to INR 5.21 lakh. Two separate FIRs have been registered at Beed Rural Police Station and further investigation is underway.
