Telangana Shocker: Pregnant Woman Dies by Suicide After Alleged Harassment Over Fidelity, DNA Test Demand

A 23-year-old pregnant woman allegedly died by suicide in Gadi Peddapur village on Thursday evening following continuous harassment by her husband, who questioned her fidelity and demanded a DNA test for their unborn child. The local police have registered a case against the husband and his mother based on a formal complaint filed by the victim's family.

The deceased, identified as Sushmita, had been married to G. Abhilash for approximately 18 months. According to law enforcement officials, the relationship was strained almost from the beginning, as Abhilash consistently suspected his wife of having an extramarital affair. The situation deteriorated significantly about five months ago when Sushmita became pregnant. Her parents reported that Abhilash escalated his behavior to include physical and verbal abuse, ultimately insisting on a DNA test to prove the paternity of the unborn child.

Sushmita's mother, Janabai, stated that Abhilash's mother, Sashirekha, also actively mistreated and harassed her daughter. Despite multiple attempts by the victim's parents to intervene, travel to the village, and resolve the domestic disputes, the harassment reportedly continued unabated. Unable to bear the persistent abuse, Sushmita hanged herself at her residence. Following the incident, her family rushed to Medak from Vikarabad and lodged a formal complaint at the Alladurg police station. Investigators confirm that a probe into the case is currently underway.
