Mumbai, November 7: In a shocking incident in Maharashtra, a 40-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband in Thane district. Police officials said that the deceased woman, Vidhya, is a housewife. They also said that after killing his wife, the accused injured himself with the same weapon. The unfortunate incident occurred on Thursday night, November 6.
According to a report in PTI, the accused was identified as Accused Santosh Powale (41). Cops said that Powale attacked his wife as he suspected her of infidelity. The accused allegedly stabbed Vidhya with a knife during an argument at their home in Varap of Kalyan taluka. After killing his wife, the accused reportedly inflicted wounds on himself with the same weapon. The alleged incident came to light when neighbours heard Vidhya's screams and rushed to the couple's house. At the couple's residence, the neighbours found Vidhya in a pool of blood. A police official said that Santosh also suffered serious injuries as he had stabbed himself. The husband-wife duo were rushed to a local hospital, where Vidhya was declared dead by the doctors. Powale was booked for murder and later shifted to the Kalwa civic hospital.
Woman's Body Found in Retibunder Creek
In a separate incident in Thane, the body of an unidentified woman was recovered from the Retibandar creek area in Mumbra on Thursday, November 6. A civic official said that the body was floating near the creek shore. The incident came to light after someone alerted the Thane Municipal Corporation's Disaster Management Cell at 4:55 PM. "Personnel from Mumbra fire station, Mumbra police station, and an ambulance team retrieved the body. It is of a woman in her late 20s. Efforts are on to identify the deceased," the official added.
