New Delhi, June 7: A day after eminent politicians and Bollywood celebrities condemned the horrific murder of a 3-year-old girl in Aligarh's Tappal, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights has sought a fact-finding inquiry report from SSP Aligarh on Friday.

Taking cognisance of the news reports, the NCPCR chairperson Priyank Kanoongo discussed the matter with the members and spoke to Aligarh SSP Akash Kulhari over the telephone. The NCPCR chairperson even asked him to initiate necessary action on priority and submit a fact-finding inquiry report to the commission. In the conversation, Kulhari informed the commission that an FIR has been registered in the matter and two suspects have been arrested. Adding more, he said that accused - Zahid and Aslam - have confessed to killing the girl after her father failed to return Rs 12,000 he had borrowed from them.

In another development, UP State Commission for Women Chairperson Vimla Batham sought the case of the murder of 2.5-year-old in Aligarh to be taken up in a fast track court. She said, as ANI quotes, "We demand that the case of the murder of 2.5-year-old in Aligarh should be taken up in a fast track court. We will soon meet UP DGP and have also sought time from the Chief Minister to meet him."

The matter gained momentum after Aligarh police found a mutilated body of a girl in a garbage dump on June 2 and suspected the brutal killing was a fallout of a monetary dispute. The girl - Twinkle Sharma - had been missing since May 31.

Following the incident, Congress president Rahul Gandhi and AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday tweeted and condemned the horrific murder of a 3-year-old girl in Aligarh.
