A deeply disturbing incident from Ulhasnagar in Maharashtra has sent shockwaves across the country after videos of three women being publicly humiliated, assaulted, and paraded on a road went viral on social media. The horrifying incident, rooted in a temple entry dispute, has sparked widespread outrage and raised serious questions about caste violence, police accountability, and the safety of women in public spaces.

The trouble began when a local caste panchayat allegedly barred a Rajput family from entering a temple in the Waghri Nagar area of Ulhasnagar. When a youth from the family defied the ban during a religious programme and community feast at the temple, a mob allegedly retaliated by attacking the family's home with sticks and rods. The violence then escalated in a manner that shocked the nation. Shocking Viral Video From Bareilly Shows Man Hurled 50 Feet Into Air Amid Powerful Dust Storm in Uttar Pradesh.

Complainant Kanta Prem Rajput (50), along with her sister Geeta Rajput and daughter Anjali, was on her way to the police station to file a complaint when the accused intercepted them. The mob allegedly dragged the women onto the road, tore their clothes, semi-stripped them, and cut their hair with scissors. They were then forced to wear garlands made of slippers and were paraded across nearly two kilometres of road while bystanders watched and filmed the entire ordeal on their phones. Man Urinates Inside Delhi Metro Lift in Front of Women at Kalkaji Mandir Station, Video Goes Viral.

Police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 against Jyuli Waghri, Vinu Waghri, Pappi Waghri, Nitin Thorat, Rohit Waghri, Sonu alias Balu Waghri, Mahesh Waghri and others. Three arrests have been made so far, while several accused remain absconding.

The victims alleged that police initially did not take the complaint seriously and registered the case only after several hours, invoking sections that many feel do not adequately reflect the gravity of the crime. Thane police confirmed that cases have been registered against members of both families and that CCTV footage and witness statements are being reviewed. The hunt for the remaining accused is ongoing.
