New Delhi, August 19: The Supreme Court has rejected the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)'s demand for providing the probe agency four weeks time for the investigation into the Unnao rape victim road accident case. The Apex court has instead given two more weeks to CBI to complete the probe into the road accident case of the rape victim and her lawyer. The Apex Court has further directed Uttar Pradesh government to pay Rs 5 lakh interim compensation to the lawyer for medical expenses. The next hearing on the case is scheduled for September 6. The rape survivor met with a deadly accident on July 28, when the car in which she was travelling, collided with a truck while she was on her way from Unnao to Rae Bareli.

Days after the road accident which left the Unnao girl who had accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar of rape in a critical condition, the CBI visited the accident site in Rae Bareli and collected the relevant case documents and other details from the Uttar Pradesh Police.

After a preliminary probe, the CBI team reached to a conclusion that driver of the car carrying Unnao rape survivor and her family panicked seeing the oncoming truck. The five cases related to the Unnao rape survivor include rape and kidnapping, gangrape, murder in custody of survivor father, Arms Act slapped on survivor father, and the car crash.

In the letter to the CJI Gogoi, the young rape victim, her mother, sister, uncle and aunt alleged that the henchmen of the accused, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, were threatening to implicate them in false cases if they did not settle the case.
