Lucknow, December 8: The Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday announced that family members of the Unnao rape survivor will be given a 24-hour security cover along with several other demands. According to a tweet by ANI, Mukesh Meshram, Lucknow Divisional Commissioner, informed that the family will be given security, the government will arrange for a job for the deceased sister as demanded. Meshram told reporters the family will be provided security, and two houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

Meshram further added saying that the state government will also provide the survivor's brother the license to hold arms as per Arms Act for self defense. "We will also arrange for a job for victim's sister. Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana we will provide two houses to the family. Earlier in the day, the family members of the Unnao rape victim agreed to perform her last rites following a negotiation with Meshram and other senior police officials. The relatives of the aggrieved family have reached the native village of the victim and the body of the rape victim will be buried. On Sunday, the sister of the deceased had said her family will not perform the last rites unless Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visits the family and assures of strict action against the accused.
