A woman in Uttar Pradesh was allegedly tortured and killed by her husband and in-laws after she consistently refused to sell a plot of land she had inherited from her parents. Police said the woman, identified as Nasreen, died after the accused tied her hands and inflicted severe electric shocks on her body, including her private parts, at a residential location in Tanda Hurmat Nagar.
According to the Uttar Pradesh Police, investigators discovered burn marks from electric shocks on six separate areas of Nasreen’s body. The police registered a First Information Report (FIR) at the Bilaspur police station following a complaint filed by the victim’s aunt. Authorities have arrested seven individuals in connection with the incident, including her husband, Israr, on charges related to murder, physical and mental cruelty by in-laws, criminal conspiracy, and common intention. Nasreen had been married to Israr since 2013, and the couple had five children. Following the death of her parents, Nasreen inherited a one-bigha plot of land in the Sharaba area, which had been equally divided among her and her two sisters. Police records indicate that Israr and his family members had been systematically pressuring Nasreen for months to liquidate the property and surrender the sale proceeds to them.
Family members stated that Nasreen repeatedly refused demands to sell the land, insisting the property was essential to secure the financial future of her five children. The FIR details that her refusal led to persistent harassment, verbal abuse, and physical expulsion from her home on multiple occasions. Jhansi Shocker: Woman Kills Husband, Enters Live-in Relationships With His 2 Brothers; Arrested After Orchestrating Mother-in-Law’s Murder Over Property Dispute.
In an effort to de-escalate the tension, local village elders and the victim's aunt had recently advised Israr to relocate away from his family home. Israr subsequently agreed to move with Nasreen and their children into rented accommodation in Tanda Hurmat Nagar, where the fatal assault ultimately took place. Bilaspur DSP Harshita Singh confirmed that a full investigation into the criminal conspiracy and murder is underway.
