Lucknow, January 15: In an appaling incident, a rape victim in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda allegedly committed suicide on Monday after police set free the rape accused men. According to a tweet by ANI, the incident took place in Gonda where the husband of the victim said that the police didn't take the matter seriously. The victim's husband added saying that the Police didn't conduct the investigation in a proper manner. Two police personnel have been suspended from their post following the victim's husband complaint.
"Police didn't conduct a thorough investigation, she didn't get justice", the husband added. According to details by SP Gonda, a further probe will be conducted into the matter and justice will be given after a detailed probe is completed. According to reports, the woman committed suicide by hanging herself from the roof at her house in Kernalganj area of Gonda district. The incident comes a fortnight after the two accused got free from all charges imposed on them. Reports inform that on 7th August 2018, the Gonda Police had lodged an FIR under section 376 D (gang rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC along with relevant sections of IT against the accused.
