Gangster Vinod Pannu alias Vinod Kana of Thurana village in Haryana’s Hisar district was shot dead by two unidentified assailants at the main entrance of the Hisar court complex on Thursday afternoon, August 20. Pannu was leaving the court after appearing in a criminal case when the attackers allegedly opened fire at him from close range.

According to reports, Pannu was accompanied by some aides when he stepped out near the parking area, PTI reported. Two motorcycle-borne assailants allegedly approached him and fired around 10 to 12 rounds, according to eyewitnesses. Who Was Vinod Pannu?

According to police, around 31 criminal cases, including murder cases, were registered against Pannu. He was considered one of the most-wanted gangsters in Hisar.

Pannu, a resident of Thurana village, was allegedly involved in several criminal cases in the district. He was also allegedly involved in the murder of the nephew of the personal assistant of MLA Savitri Jindal.

The shooting took place near the main entrance of the Hisar court complex as Pannu was leaving after appearing in a criminal case. Eyewitnesses said the two assailants arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire at Pannu from close range. Around 10 to 12 rounds were reportedly fired. Pannu sustained serious injuries and was taken to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead during treatment.

Sources said the assailants also fired two shots in the air while fleeing the court complex. However, one of the two alleged attackers was reportedly overpowered by people at the spot and also suffered injuries. The identity and motive of the attackers have not yet been established.

The shooting triggered panic inside the court complex, with police teams reaching the spot soon after the incident. Investigators are working to identify the assailants and ascertain their whereabouts. Police are also examining the circumstances surrounding the attack and the sequence of events leading to Pannu’s killing. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
