Bihar Election Result 2025 Live News Updates: NDA Bags 202 Seat Mandate As Mahagathbandhan Slips To Historic Low

The NDA bagged a dominant mandate in the 2025 Bihar Assembly Election, winning 202 seats, with the BJP and JD(U) leading the alliance. The Mahagathbandhan suffered major losses, managing only 35 seats, while Congress, Left parties and Jan Suraaj failed to make gains.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed heartfelt gratitude to the millions of voters in Bihar who placed their trust in the Mahagathbandhan. He said the Bihar election results 2025 were “truly shocking,” adding that the alliance could not secure victory in a contest that, according to him, was never fully fair from the beginning.

Tejashwi Yadav, who was the Mahagathbandhan chief ministerial face, has retained his family bastion of Raghopur despite trailing in the early rounds of vote counting. At the end, Tejashwi has defeated BJP's Satish Kumar by a margin of over 13,000 votes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X on Friday to celebrate the NDA’s historic victory in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, calling it a “victory of good governance, development, public welfare, and social justice.” He expressed gratitude to the people of Bihar for giving the alliance a massive mandate and praised Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and NDA leaders Chirag Paswan, Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Upendra Kushwaha. Modi also thanked party workers for tirelessly promoting the development agenda and countering opposition claims. He emphasised that the resounding win will empower the NDA to serve Bihar with renewed focus. Jailed JDU leader Anant Kumar Singh secured a decisive victory in the Mokama Assembly seat, winning by over 28,000 votes against RJD’s Veena Devi in the 2025 Bihar elections. Singh garnered 91,416 votes, while Devi managed 63,210, strengthening the NDA’s overall lead. Celebrations erupted at BJP offices as the alliance moves toward a potential landslide, with BJP leading on 95 seats and JDU on 84. The Mahagathbandhan lags behind, with RJD at 24 and Congress at 2 seats.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar appeared to be headed towards a thumping victory, and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar seemed prepared to secure a fifth consecutive term, as the latest trends showed the alliance leading in 200 of the 243 seats in the state.
