New Delhi, Sept 13: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) candidates won the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections that were held on Wednesday. ABVP's Ankiv Basoya has won the posts of president, Shakti Singh has won the post of vice president while Jyoti Choudhary has bagged the position of joint secretary. Meanwhile, NSUI candidate Akash Choudhary has won the post of secretary.

The DUSU elections will be held on September 12, recording the highest voter turnout (44.46 per cent) in 11 years. This year's election was a contest between Congress-backed National Students' Union of India (NSUI), RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the alliance of All India Students’ Association (AISA) and the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) student wing, Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS).

On September 12, polling for the morning colleges was held from 8 am to 1:30 pm while that for evening colleges were held between 3 pm to 7:30 pm. A total of 23 candidates are in the fray, contesting for the posts of president, vice president, secretary and joint secretary.

In 2017, NSUI leader Rocky Tuseed had bagged the president post, whereas, the vice president-elect was Kunal Sehrawat. Secretary's post was won by ABVP's Mahamedha Nagar while the ABVP had bagged the secretary's post.
